يبحث هذا المقال في أشكال الفخاريات التي ظهرت في تل أبو قاسم ضمن تنقيبات إنقاذ حوض حمرين 1979م. ويحتوي تل أبو قاسم على ست طبقات ضمن سوره وخندقه الدفاعي. وأظهر المجس الذي حُفر في تل أبو قاسم بقايا أثرية مختلفة من الفخار والبنايات والجدران، كما اتضح أن الفخاريات في التل تعود إلى العصور التاريخية وما قبل التاريخية، من العبيد وأواخر دور الوركاء وجمدة نصر وعصر فجر السلالات الأول والثاني والثالث والعصر الأكدي والبابلي وانتهائها بالفترة الفرثية.
أما أشكال هذه الفخاريات فكانت متباينة بين الأبدان الكروية وشبه الكروية ونصف الكروية والجرسية والمخروطية والأسطوانية والبصلية وأشكال أخرى، وتنضوي تحت هذه الأشكال الرئيسة أنواع مختلفة من الحواف وطريقة صناعتها ومنها حافات تميل نحو الخارج وغير مستوية ومنتظمة ومشظوفة نحو الخارج وبارزة إلى الأعلى ومنبسطة وعادية فضلاً عن بعض من ذات الفوهات المفقودة.
