الملخص
تسلط الدراسة الضوء على قناتين اروائيتين قديمتين على رافد الزاب الأسفل عرفتا محلياً باسم (العباسية والفيل)، وتتناول الدراسة التطور المفترض لهاتين القناتين القديمتين ووظائفهما وطبيعة امتدادهما من البداية حيث خروجهما من رافد الزاب الأسفل وحتى مصبهما في وادي زغيتون، والقرى، والمواطن الاثرية، والمحطات التي تَمرّان بها، ومحاولة تحديد تأريخهما اعتماداً على مواطن الآثار ومشاريع الري القديمة الأخرى القريبة منهما، ولاسيما قنوات الري الممتدة في سهل مخمور والمعروفة باسم قناة النهر العباسي الأول والثاني أو قناة مخمور وكذلك اعتماداً على طبيعة القنوات وتعرجاتها، وكميات الطمي التي تحتويهما
